Since i moved to Abuja, been looking for where to get well prepared steak as i am a very big fan. I have this partner in
crime food who we go out together to try out different restaurants and meals, and we have tried out about two to three different places that had steak on their menu. One of the places i tried had their steak tasting like boiled beef, too soft and there was no need for a knife because my fork could easily cut through without any hassle.
One of the days we were to have office lunch, a colleague suggested we go to this particular restaurant located in Maitama area of Abuja. The name and the description sounded promising and she had a table booked for us pre-arrival. After driving in circles due to the confusing road, we finally got to our destination and i found the internal car park area very catchy (visit there to find out why 😀 ).
The name of the restaurant is Al- basha which is Lebanese, it has a Lebanese art and cultural piece display at the front entrance and inside the dinning area. I particularly loved the wall design and paintings on the wall, the waiter that came to attend to us was nice and friendly
but seemed high on some levels. One thing i didn’t like was the aroma, it smelt like smoke but oh well! that didn’t stop me from enjoying my meal. Had a great meal (mushroom steak) so did my colleagues with their various orders and knew i was going to be returning for more.
I returned, this time with my food buddie, we enjoyed our starter and main dish then decided to give their dessert a trial and……not sure how i feel about it. Next time am there which am sure i would, am sticking to the starters and main meal period.
Find pics below:
Starter: Chicken in chili sauce, Fried beef fatayel and Lebanese bread
Main Dish: Al-basha Steak with chips and mixed vegetables(left), Mushroom Steak with rice and mixed vegetables (right)
Dessert: Creme Caramel (left), Mohallabiah (right)
There is also a shisha spot where you can have a smoke for shisha lovers, and an outdoor area with TV screens if you prefer to sit out or come watch any of the football matches.
Right now, Al-basha is rated number 1 on my list for steak in Abuja, this is subject to change. Generally their services were great and the prices were a bit fair.
Value for money 7/10
